The Bright Angel Trail leads from the South Rim to the Colorado River, crossing Plateau Point and then drops 1,400 foot descent to Bright Angel Canyon, home of the Vischnu Schist, the oldest known formation in the depths of the Grand.For the Adventurous it finally ascends Trinity Canyon leading to the North Rim.
